Dar es Salaam, August 15, 2025

In a heartfelt continuation of mourning and honoring the martyrs of Karbala, the Women Section of WIPAHS organized a special Majlis today to mark Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (A.S) and his companions in Karbala, Iraq.

The event was held at Unity Hall, located in Chang’ombe, Temeke, where people from across Dar es Salaam gathered to reflect on the tragedies faced by the Ahlul Bayt and to draw spiritual inspiration from the legacy of Imam Hussein (A.S).

🎙 Sheikh Jafar Mwazoa, the keynote speaker, delivered a moving sermon recounting the trials of Imam Hussein (A.S). He emphasized that Karbala is not merely a historical event but a spiritual beacon that continues to illuminate the hearts of believers. Quoting Imam Ali (A.S), he said:

“Among the signs of a true believer are performing 50 rakats of prayer daily, wearing a ring on the right hand, and visiting Imam Hussein (A.S) on the day of Arbaeen.

Sheikh Jafar stressed that the pilgrimage of Arbaeen is not just a physical journey but a spiritual covenant with the oppressed household of the Prophet (S.A.W.W). He reminded the audience that on the Day of Judgment, Allah will ask His servant:

“Why did you not visit Me through visiting My servants, such as the sick and the oppressed?

🎤 The Majlis concluded with a recitation of the Masaib (tragedies) of Imam Hussein (A.S) and the immense injustices faced by the Ahlul Bayt in Karbala. Tears flowed as Sheikh Jafar narrated the origins of Arbaeen, explaining how the caravan of captives led by Imam Sajjad (A.S) and Lady Zainab (A.S) returned to Karbala from Sham to mourn the martyrs.

This event showcased the spiritual unity and communal strength of Muslim women in preserving the legacy of the Ahlul Bayt.
